Our Philosophy

We believe that people with disability should have the same opportunities as any other person for employment and employment-based training which is compatible with their abilities.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our Objectives

In our service delivery, we embrace a Person-Centred approach, fostering the development of individual goals and support needs for each Helpmate. Through Individual Work Plans (IWPs), we tailor our support to meet the unique needs and aspirations of every Helpmate, upholding their Human Rights and advocating for the diversity of individuals with disabilities.

We prioritise cultural diversity, ensuring the confidentiality and privacy rights of each Helpmate. Our commitment involves providing opportunities for Helpmates to actively participate in program planning, promoting their independence, social integration, and awareness of community resources.

We encourage the acquisition of work ethics and skills, enhancing participants' prospects for employment. We remain accountable to both the organisation and funding body, safeguarding the rights to freedom of expression, dignity, and respect for each Helpmate. Our dedication extends to promoting community awareness of the strengths of individual Helpmates and ensuring the continuous quality improvement of Waverley Helpmates' program.

Our History

Waverley Helpmates started in 1986 with the goal of providing meaningful employment to people with intellectual disabilities. From a small organisation it has now grown into a thriving NDIS accredited not-for-profit organisation providing gardening, cleaning and laundry services to over 600 customers with a team of 32 helpmates and 8 staff.
